Windows 10: wi-fi download speed low, but the internet works fine on other computers

Hello everyone, here my situation:I have 2 computers, both of the with Windows 11 installed.When I connect at the same network where only I am connected at home and at work or on a business trip, no dirreneces in one the download and upload speed turns out to be good and in line with the network I am connecting to, with the other the speed always turns out to be significantly lower. At work, for example in one I have 20 mega download, in the other only 2-3 mega and it is a new computer, a Dell and 18-20 mega upload. Trouble Changing Wi-Fi Password


I've been following the following steps to change my Wi-Fi password for some time:

1. Launch Control Panel.
2. Click "Network and Internet."
3. Click "Network and Sharing Center."
4. Click "Wi-Fi...."
5. Click "Wireless Properties."
6. Click the Security tab.
7. Check "Show characters."
8. Enter the password in "Network security key."

Those steps have been working just fine, but today I discovered a new wrinkle. If I change the password inside the router first, "Wi-Fi..." doesn't appear in step 4. This isn't much of a problem at home, because I can just change the password in Control Panel before I change it inside the router, but it would be a problem at a public hotspot, or something of that nature. I also tested Brink's instructions in "How to Connect To a Wireless Network in Windows 10," but they don't work for me either. How can I fix this?

 

Slow Internet speed on only one computer.

Hi Cody,

Slow internet speed on one of your computer could be due to the following:

• Outdated network adapter driver
• Different Wi-Fi chipset
• Computer processing speed

Make sure that the network driver of your computer(s) are always updated.

We also suggest you to contact your internet service provider for them to check your internet connection speed and give you more information.

Artificially low internet speeds

Read the response that your were given which are first steps. Also a Cat-8 cable is going to do nothing for you, it is for use in Data Centers. A Cat-5e cable will do just fine.
