Windows 10: wifi adapter is working but wifi icon missing to left of airplane mode. Also No netowrk...

Recently Before logging off my computer behaved strangely saying in notifications "network sharing settings were changed" to which I did not touch. I didn't think anything of it at the time and proceeded to turn off computer. Next time I turned it on the network icon was gone. I have done a reset and other steps but nothing restores the on off wifi button in network setting notification on tasks bar. that will allow me to turn wifi on and off and select network to connect too. the only icon showing is air plane mode nothing else. I go to network settings and I see a red x next to the

problem was:

pc cant connect to wifi cos airplane mode randomly turned on by itself

you can google to see why computer does that - microsoft seems to have never fixed this

fixed this by turning off something in services (this goes to show how many services are bad and should be off by default, again a long-standing microsoft problem that they've never made better)


new problem:

the wifi icon on botton left changed to the airplane mode icon

and when old problem was fixed, airplane mode icon is stuck like that

what are steps to fix?

what are troubleshoot this?

 

Safe Mode with Networking - No network - No WiFi adapter...

I'm not sure what build they made the change in . I have tried every suggestion I found and nothing worked. When in Safe Mode my wireless network doesn't even show up so I can't choose it as a option.

Edit: I just tried booting into Safe Mode. The network icon had a X in it. When I clicked on it the only option was Airplane Mode.

Recently, I installed Win 10 Version 11.321.14393.0 but was unable to remove or disable the Airplane Mode. My fix: enable the "Radio Management and Airplane Mode Service" in the Services. This allowed the Wi-Fi and Airplane Mode icon settings to toggle independently and in conjunction.
So far, I've been able to remove only the Airplane Mode icon from the Action Center (lower rt. screen) by unchecking the "Allow computer to turn off device" settings found in Devices -> Network Adapter w/Hidden Devices selected. When boxes are unchecked, the AM icon is removed from the Action Center.
