  1. Wifi Adapter Not Detected after Windows Update

So, my laptop was working fine last night. I was casually browsing the web and everything was fine. I shut my laptop down before going to sleep.

When I woke up, I booted my laptop and both sound and wifi were missing! I thought it might've been the boot process screwing up, so I tried a reboot.

The sound was restored except WiFi. My adapter was nowhere to be found, and network troubleshooter did nothing. I looked my adapter up in Device Manager and it was hidden.

Apparently, there's an error code 45 saying it wasn't connected which is weird because it was working fine last night. My laptop's also placed on a safe surface and there's no way it could've displaced any component inside.

I've tried rebooting multiple times as well as resetting winsock. Didn't work as well. I tried a system restore only to discover that the latest restore point was TODAY created by an update. I'm currently waiting for system restore to finish.

Any other things I could try if this doesn't work? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

    Update made wifi adapter disapear

If the wifi adapter appears in Device manager without any warning triangle but there is no wifi section in Settings, Networks then reinstall the wifi adapter.

If the wifi adapter appears in Device manager without any warning triangle and there is a wifi section in Settings, Networks then use Settings, Update, Troubleshoot. I'd suggest this sequence:-
    Hardware & devices
    Network adapter
    Internet connections

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Wifi adapter disappears - goes 'hidden'

Running Windows 10 on an Acer laptop. Over the past month, the wifi connection dropped without explanation/warning.

First time, the adapter was visible in Device Manager (with a yellow triangle next to it). An interent search found the suggestion to uninstall it and restart. That worked.

Today, the connection dropped again. In Device Manager at first I could not see the wifi adapter listed. I clicked to see hidden devices and found the adapter and the Bluetooth (which I had not noticed was missing).

I again uninstalled, restarted, and both the wifi and bluetooth have returned.

Anyone any ideas as to what is happening, why it's happening, and what I need to do, please?

I have attached a screenshot of the DM windows as it is now, showing the wifi adapter name, etc.

    Thanks very much

Wifi Adapter Not Detected after Windows Update

    Windows 7 x64 not detecting GTX295

    Background
I installed the 295 and it was not detected. So I downloaded 181.22 for Vista x64, but those drivers didn't work for gaming (CTD). So I installed a GTX 8800 and it was detected and drivers installed automatically from Windows Update.

Now I put the 295 back in, and it installed and was able to run games. However, the nVidia control panel was not available, suggesting that the drivers hadn't installed properly... So I deleted the drivers and rebooted. And... again it lists my 295 as a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and a "3D Video Controler", but no drivers can be found by Windows Update.

    Question
    1) Is there anywhere I can download the Windows 7 x64 drivers and install them manually?

    2) Any idea how I can get Windows 7 to recognize my GTX295 so that it can download the proper drivers.

    3) Have you had the GTX295 install automatically in Windows 7 x64?
