Windows 10: Wifi adaptor gone from the device manager after windows 10 update

I have been using this laptop since 2014. Wifi adaptors were working fine until recent before yesterday windows 10 update. Somehow this update totally removed wifi adaptors from device manager replaced with new drivers which is not have a capability to get wifi connections. Please help me to fix this issue. Before yesterday also i was able to work on wifi connection.

1. What exactly happens if you connect "wifi adaptor netgear wna1000m -n150-usb micro adaptor" ?

I suggest you to open device manager and check if he sees any yellow exclamation
when the device is connected.

You can update drivers and check if that helps.

• Press “Windows + X” and select
  Device manger.
• Expand the driver icon.
• Right click on the driver icon
  and click on Update.
• Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

if issue persist, You may go ahead and uninstall the drivers for NetGear wireless adaptor from device manager, and reinstall the drivers.

1. Click start, type device manager in search box.

2. Go to device manager.

3. Click on network adaptor, right click on netgear wireless adaptor, and uninstall.


Please go to the manufacturers website, and download the latest drivers. If no drivers for win 10 install the available drivers in compatibility mode.

1.Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.

2. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down.

3.Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Wifi adapter in randomly disabled in settings but is still enabled in device manager

Sorry you're experiencing this problem.

Can you try the following:

If you can Right Click your Start button and then choose Device Manager from the list.

In Device Manager, look for >Network Adaptors and click on the arrow > to expand.

You should see your WiFi Network Adaptor in this list.

Right Click your WiFi adaptor and then choose "Uninstall device" from the menu.

Now reboot your computer and your WiFi adaptor will be reinstalled on boot. Then check to see if your problem is resolved.

 

USB WiFi adaptor

Ah yes, the famous Windows 10 USB WIFI adaptor driver issue. You could try unzipping the drivers and from device manager selecting "have disk" and pointing to the inf file. But I have my doubts for success from posts like this:

I currently have a desktop MB that has wifi on the chip and this solved my USB wifi problems once and for all. You can check this thread when I had a similar problem (post 15).

The D Link DWA-182 firmware C worked for me in Windows 10. You have to make sure you have the revision C model (not A). However, even with that there were issues. Windows 10 recognized it as the realtek (chip) drivers. To get the D link drivers showing up (and working) in Windows 10 I had to extract the drivers and point to them in device manager. Then they installed and I didn't have disconnect issues after that (well, most of the time).

You could try this D Link one but make sure your store has a return policy just in case. Otherwise I would suggest a search on all the adaptor manufacturers (Asus, etc) to see if their model actually has a Windows 10 driver to download. If they don't, good possibility there will be an issue.
