Windows 10: Wifi and USB ports not functioning and I am unable to reinstall windows.

So, hello everyone,
my problem is a little too complex.

This morning I found out my wifi and USB drivers don't work. First I tried to update them, which gave me msdt.exe error 0xc000007b. Then I ran antivirus diagnostics ESET Nod32 - no problem found so I tried to repair corrupted files through console commands. "sfc /scannow" command found some errors but was unable to repair them there is like 20 of them. I also tried couple more commands which i found in other threads with similar problems but that didn't work either. I also reinstaled .NET and Visual C++. Eventually I surrendered and decided to reinstall windows through system reset - this was also ended by unknown error. My final try was trying to instal it right through the ISO image and here, another error apeared MFC42u.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.... 0xc0000020. Since I can't use USB ports and dont have a CD/DVD ROM I don't have the option of booting any repair systems before Windows starting up. I am kinda desperate right now and have no clue how to continue at this point.

My guess is that my trustedinsteller.exe is corrupted and is corrupting other systems as well. It also blocks every single one of my efforts to repair it. But it could be anything, this is just my amateur computer enthusiast guess.

USB ports not functioning properly

Hi,

This can be due to a recent change in the configuration of your device. To assist you with your concern, we recommend that you use Device Manager to disable and re-enable all the USB controllers. This lets the controllers recover the USB port from its unresponsive
condition. The USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager.

To disable and re-enable the USB controllers, follow these steps:

1. In the Search box, type Device Manager and press Enter.

2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Note: You might have to scroll down the list to find this item.

3. Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click Uninstall to remove it.

4. Repeat step 3 for each USB controller that is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers.

5. Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB

controllers that you uninstalled.

6. Check the USB device to see whether it is working.

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

• How old is the laptop?

in Windows 10. Here are the steps:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
• Type Troubleshooting then press Enter.
• On the left side, click View all.
• Select Hardware and Devices.
• Click Next and see if it will find any problems.
