Wifi connection lost when power adapter is connected

Hello everybody and thank you in advance for your time.
My name is . It's been a while, my beloved laptop Lenovo Y50 running Windows 10 pro, keeps losing wifi connectivity a couple of minutes after I plug it in. It works normally once I disconnect the power adapter.
I believe this problem started after some update but, for some reason, I can not roll back time to reverse it.
By now, enough time has gone by (a few months) that I don't even know it would make sense to try rolling back. .
Any help and ideas on how to solve it would be much appreciated. (My computer expertise is at medium - regular user - levels, so please, take this into account if you try to explain how to go about solving this.
    Thanks again!!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 wifi lost on battery power

Just ran into this issue as well: an HP laptop would connect fine while connected to a power source, but would lose WiFi connectivity when running on battery. The issue started after upgrading to Windows 10.

After some digging around, it turned out the issue was related to this knowledge base: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/928152 (You may experience connectivity
issues or performance issues when you connect a mobile PC that is running Windows to a wireless access point).

Essentially, the issue was that on battery power, Windows would put the laptop's wireless adapter into 802.11 power save mode and this mode which is not supported correctly by all wireless routers, causing connectivity to be lost. Going into the advanced
power settings for battery mode and setting the adapter to "maximum performance" and reconnecting wifi as described in the KB fixed the issue.

I had a similar issue with my Lenovo...

Wi-Fi got screwed, and after trying every conceivable fix - from changing drivers to router settings - it turned out to be the docking station (which has a built-in PSU)

After changing to a dock without the built-in stuff and using the standard power adapter - problem solved.

I suggest try a different power adapter...

If the ipconfig was done when it's not working it shows you have the correct IP so it's not dropped the connection

Wifi connection lost when power adapter is connected

@Superfly - before I buy a new adapter, is there anything else I might try, in case this isn't the problem?

@Samuria - yes, it's not losing the connection, it's losing the internet - so it says "connected, no internet" ... what should I do?

Can't be sure - my situation was slightly different to yours - I'm not clued up enough on networking to offer an alternative...

..it's just weird that the power should affect the WiFi signal?

Yes, I know, I was thinking the same thing. Do you think, if
I try and reinstall windows and everything else, is it possible the problem might just as strangely disappear?
