    WIFI Driver definitely not installed. Which one do I choose to download?


    Hi, so I've decided I want to move my grandmothers Desktop PC to another room, however before doing so I wanted to make sure that it would connect to WIFI as for it's been connected via Ethernet since day 1. Long story short, come to find out it seems there is no WIFI driver installed on this computer, and I do not know what my next step is because the computer was built from the ground up by a personal hired technician. It's not "branded" technically, it is pieces put together to my knowledge, so I cannot go onto the manufacturers website to find the proper driver as I would if I was on my

    Hi,

    If you want to have the high definition audio codec driver on your computer, we suggest updating your sound driver. Follow the steps below to update sound driver.

    • On Start menu and type
      Device Manager       and press enter.
    • Click Sound, video, and game controllers.
    • Right-click IDT High definition audio codec and
      Update driver.
    • If there are no update available, reinstall the driver by clicking Uninstall.
    • Restart the computer. Download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

    Unlocked Realtek HD Audio Drivers Windows 7 & 8 (With Dolby Digital Live and DTS Interactive)

    Wait, but have you done the whole step-by-step guide described in the OP? DDL/DTS isn't supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 either, unless if you do the steps listed there.

    Laptop driver/reformat question

    This is excellent advice. Writing down the list of installed devices prior to re-formatting will save you a lot of heartache. With that list, you won't have to try to figure out exactly which wireless card or web cam driver you need since there will likely be several to choose from.
