Windows 10: Wifi extremely slow on laptop as compared to all other devices at home including other...

Hi All,


I have an issue where the internet and specifically the ping & download rates on my ASUS Vivobook X407UA with Windows 10 version 1909 have been extremely slow when I connect to my home Wi-Fi. Any other device connected to the same WiFi router is absolutely fine and atleast 10 times as fast as internet speed on this laptop.


It also is not a one-off case as it is consistently faster attaching screenshots of Speed Tests run on other devices versus this laptop


I have tried resetting the PC to factory settings, uninstalled the Wireless Adapter and reinstalled it, sat right next to the router, set to Google DNS to test and tried multiple other steps I could find on the interweb, without any luck. Looking for some guidance or help on what can be done.


Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Raghu, thanks for your question. I'm Graeme, a Microsoft Community expert and fellow user.

Do you know if your laptop's download speed improves if you plug an ethernet cable into your laptop from the router?

You could try reinstalling your WiFi adapter's drivers. Here are the steps:

- Press Windows Key+X and choose Device Manager.

- Find your WiFi adapter in the list.

- Right-click it and choose Update Driver.

- If that doesn't work, try uninstalling it and then scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.

Or you could see what the troubleshooter does. Click Start and type "troubleshoot" then select the first result. Scroll down and choose Internet Connection. Run the troubleshooter and it may help.

Otherwise, let me know what brand and model you laptop is and I'll find the correct drivers for your WiFi adapter to download manually.

e61i slow wifi

Hello,

I have an e61i and the wifi works but the download is slow. I compare it with a laptop connected to the same wifi access point and the laptop is about 10x faster at least. Any suggestions? phone is new so it has relatively latest software. thanks for any suggestions.

I've had the same problem as Panayiotis1984. Upgraded to Windows 10 on my Lenovo from windows 8.1 - now the wifi is painfully slow. The wifi still works fine on my other devices (smartphone etc).

I tried the steps that you suggested but they did not bring an improvement.

Any other suggestions?
