Windows 10: wifi icon not appearing and can’t connect to the internet. How to resolve this?

A week ago i had an issue with my pc where it only appeared with a black screen and green dots. i managed to fix this from a tutorial by uninstalling a driver. However, after i fixed it, the wifi icon disappeared, I didn’t think anything of it until today where my wifi disconnected by itself and now I cannot view the icon or view the available networks in settings.

When will the wifi connectivity problems be solved?


OK, so the Windows 10 engineers bollixed up the wifi connectivity part of the operating system. Everybody knows that by now. It seems they are making some progress in resolving it. Now, instead of seeing "Secured, No Internet" on your list of wifi connections, you see "Connected, Secured" EXCEPT no webpages will load. So you really aren't connected. It does seem to be a step in the right direction. Does anybody know when they plan on a full and complete repair of this screw up of epic proportions?

 

Wifi icon says "no internet access" but the internet still works

The issue might be caused by the network driver or its connectivity. We suggest you to run Network troubleshooter. Right-click
WiFi icon and choose Troubleshoot problems. Follow the steps that will pop up on the screen. This will help you automatically resolve the concern on the status of internet connection.

Relocated PC can't connect to internet

You don't need to sign in to connect to the WiFi at the new location. There is a network icon at the lower right on the sign in screen. Click on it and you get the same list of available WiFi as you see if you click the network icon on the task bar. You will be able to connect to the facility's WiFi without signing in. You just need to ask their technical people for the WiFi password so you can enter it when you try to connect.





Clicking on the network icon on the sign in screen gets you the same screen as shown in Option Four in this tutorial. You will then be able to follow the rest of the steps in Option Four to connect.
