Windows 10: Wifi issues on laptop running Win10

I was given a Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 and am working on getting it up and running. I've installed windows twice (once before and once after a ram and ssd upgrade) and both times I was able to connect to my wifi during the install process to download necessary files for the install. However, after a reboot into windows my computer still recognizes the wifi card (intel centrino advanced-n 6205) and the drivers (v15.16.0.2) but will not allow me to connect to wifi. In settings it lets me switch wifi on but immediately switches it off and won't list networks, and in the quick settings menu I cant even change the wifi on switch, it just has a drop-down menu that says turn wifi back on manually and won't let me do anything. How can I get my wifi back up and running?

Reliable plug-and-play Mini PCIE WiFi card for laptops?

Hi all - I own 2 older Acer laptops with Broadcom WiFi cards that all have issues with WiFi randomly disconnecting, or NOT automatically reconnecting upon wake-from-sleep or on boot. I've seen several family member's laptops with the same issue...also with older Broadcom cards.

The only way to fix the random disconnections when they happen is by running the WiFi troubleshooter, disabling and re-enabling the WiFi adapter, or sometimes restarting the whole machine. I've tried every single driver I can find, and tried various suggestions for settings changes (turning off 'allow Windows to turn this device off to save power', for example) and they all still do this. They are all older laptops (Win7 or Win8-era) that have been upgraded to Win10.

So....to work around this as it's driving me crazy, are there any suggestions for a good plug-and-play Mini PCIE WiFi card I could put into those laptops that isn't going to break the bank? Hopefully replacing the card with one with a completely different chipset would do the trick?

Any decent Realtek/Ralink/Intel/Atheros Mini PCIE cards out there that could solve the issue? Thanks for any suggestions!

HP Laptop is running Win10 and wifi just quit.

I have briefly scrolled through the several replies I have gotten. One of the articles that follows the one you listed shows all the wifi states and the icons, including the one that I am seeing on the problem computer: no connectivity icon indicating
no network adapter.. Tomorrow I will start going through the steps listed there and let you know the outcome. It will probably be the weekend before I am finished. Thanks. There is a world of info in these articles.
