Windows 10: WiFi issues with my new laptop

I recently got a new laptop (Lenovo Ideapad S540), it's great, runs great, doesn't hang on tasks, but I've been having some issues with WiFi, presumably.

It's actually very odd, and symptoms vary. Sometimes, the WiFi keeps dropping, sometimes it won't connect to a WiFi network, unless I restart, currently I have the Internet, I can use my browser, sync OneDrive, but any modern Windows 10 app acts as if I didn't have Internet. Cortana complains she doesn't have Internet access, Windows Store and a multitude of other apps just show me an error message:

But I can still access my mails using the Mail app, play games like Asphalt 9 that require Internet connection, I just don't seem to be able to use any multiplayer features in the game. In Messenger, I can send text message just fine, but it won't send through any images.

Is there a fix/reason for this? I've tried troubleshooting, doesn't help, always just restarts my network preferences, which will connect me to the Internet afterwards, but the same symptoms prevail. I've tried checking for drivers with Driver Booster, my WiFi drivers are up to date. Clean reinstall doesn't help either.

Is this a hardware or a software problem?

need a new wifi card for laptop

so my acer 4830tg-6450 laptop's internal wifi card has been acting up. it seems to have connectivity issues. my usb one works, but speeds are much slower so I am looking for a replacement wifi card. I have no idea how to go about picking a new wifi card for laptops and what would fit. I googled around and am still clueless haha. any help would be great!

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
