    WIFI keeps dropping

    Hello there.

In the past 2-3 weeks or so, the wifi on my desktop device has been disconnecting itself for a minute or two. Bear in mind, this issue has never shown itself in all the time that i have used my Desktop. I use a network adapter to connect to the internet ASUS AC68 USB. I've already ruled out that it isn't my adapter by buying a new one for testing, neither does it shut itself off to save power.

A friend of mine recommended me to look into the event viewer, where i was met with a whole bunch of warning messages with the error ID 10016 and 1004 with the source being either DistributedCOM or DNS Client Events. They seem quite consistent with the time that my adapter decides to drop the wifi connection, so i assume it has something to do with this.

All the warning messages contain either one of these and stays consistant.

I'm not that of a tech savvy guy, so i really hope someone here knows how to fix my issue, whether it has to do something with all of these error messages or not.

    Thanks, KJJU

  3. WiFi keeps dropping out (on laptop only)

As mentioned above, check that the network adapter is not set to turn off in Power Managment.

    Right-click > Properties > Configure > Power Management

If your signal is dropping, it could be interference, the channel is being heavily used in you area, etc.

That's why I suggested the steps to check.

I would also check the router logs, and the Windows Event Logs for clues.

That's how you start finding out.

    WIFI Keeps dropping

I performed the steps in the recommendation and I'm not dropping Wifi connections as much as I was. It will disconnect a couple of times a day as compared to every 20 minutes before. So it helped but hasn't completely fixed my problem.
