Windows 10: Wifi not working after upgrading from Windows 7

I have just upgraded to windows 10 from Windows 7. Since doing this my wifi is no longer working. Wifi is turned on but no networks are showing. Unfortunately I only have my mobile as a hot spot to use for Internet so I can not connect an ether net cable to check if it works that way.
I had a vpn installed on my windows 7 system and read that this may be to blame. I reverted back to win 7 and uninstalled it but when I reupgraded to 10 I still have the same issue. I found the following instructions for a fix.. Fortunately – there is a solution.
"Step 1 – First things first, Right-Click the newly-reinstated Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin) from the drop-down menu.
Step 2 – Type out the following command, then hit the Enter key
reg delete HKCRCLSID{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f
Step 3 – Enter the below command into the Command Prompt and then triumphantly hit the Enter key
netcfg -v -u dni_dne
Step 4 – Restart the PC and then double-check your wifi settings. You should now see a revived list of all of the available networks within range."
However when I try step 1 it says "error: invalid key name. Type "reg delete /?" For usage."
Any help is greatly appreciated as I will have to revert back again if I can't get it working.

I upgraded my Lenovo Z470 from win 7 to windows 10 its a free upgrade from windows and after that my wifi is not working. the only way I can get my wifi working is to restart my laptop twice. can you help me fix this problem as soon as possible..

If what you post is exactly what you used (step 2, deleting a Windows registry key from the command line), it's not quite correct.

You may want to open regedit to find out if the key is actually present. Look in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID. (I'm no Registry wizard. Be careful about what you delete.)

 

There's no sign of the key where you told me to look.

Does that mean that this fix is for a different issue?
I'm not very computer savvy outside of following instructions so I'm really stuck at the minute.

If the key is not present, your problem has a different cause.

Does the WiFi adapter show in Device Manager? I imagine a driver issue.

 

Under network adaptors I have
802.11n Wireless LAN Card
And
Realtor PCIE GBE Family Controller

 

This happened to me as well; all i did was run the link that says fix problems; it re started my wifi adaptor as was fine from there

 

I guess that the Realtek PCIE GBE controller is your regular Ethernet interface.

The 802.11n card is WiFi. That's such a generic description that I imagine that Windows 10 hasn't installed the proper drivers for it. Unfortunately, it also doesn't enable anyone to direct you to a download for the drivers. Do you have any other information about the system? (Make, model if it's a notebook?)
