Windows 10: Wifi Related

I just finished building my pc and I dowloaded windows 10 free version but when I try to connect to a wifi it only lets me connect via ethernet cable it doest show wireless connections, also when i click on the bottom right corner to try to connect to internet it says “change such settings, such as making a connection metered.”

Problem related to wifi

Since the issue with connecting to your wireless internet connection is not limited to one specific device, there is a possibility your router triggers the issue. For initial troubleshooting, we suggest resetting the router by turning it off and unplugging
it. Wait for a minute before plugging the router and turn it on.

To be able to display the wifi icon on your notification area, follow these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Using the Search bar on Windows Settings, type Taskbar and then click on Taskbar settings from the search results.
• Under the Notification area, click on Select which icons appear on the taskbar.

Student WiFi Log In

The authentication failed error that you encounter when connecting to a local WiFi can be related to a change on the device firmware caused by the recent update. As an initial step to fix your concern, we suggest that you reset the connection by following
these steps:

• Click the Start menu

• Select settings

• Select Network & Internet.
• Click on WiFi and select Manage known networks.
• Under the list of networks, select the affected WiFi connection.
• Select Forget.

Once you're done, reconnect to the WiFi and check if the issue persist.

Windows 10 wifi not turning on Acer Aspire laptop

In order to get the list of available wireless networks, you have to:

1. Switch on Connect to suggested open hotspots (see the screenshot in question);
   
2. Click on Wifi icon in the right corner. Now you have your networks back.
   

After that the parameter from Step 1 can be turned off, networks will be listed normally after restarting Wifi.

P.S. I feel rather stupid at the moment. I thought that open hotspots are passwordless hotspots and so are presumably not very safe. So of course I've turned that off during installation.
Really hard to see any logic in this case.
