My laptop is currently experiencing an issue where the strength of my network slowly decreases until the download speed is in the bytes. It can be temporarily fixed by reconnecting to the network, then the wifi strength is fine, but then it slowly gets worse, repeating the cycle.I have done a network reset and all steps listed on this page, and am close to giving up. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-wi-fi-connection-issues-in-windows-9424a1f7-6a3b-65a6-4d78-7f07eee84d2c#WindowsVersion=Windows_10This issue doesn’t occur on any other device on my network, and previously when I dua

    WiFi Drops Out

    Sounds like poor signal
To check the signal strength of a Wi-Fi connection using Command Prompt, use these steps:

    1. Open Start.
    2. Search for Command Prompt and click the top result to open the app.
    3. Type the following command to view the Wi-Fi signal strength and press Enter:
      netsh wlan show interfaces
    4. See the Signal field to determine the signal quality. (If the output number is equal or higher than 80, then the strength of the signal is good.)

try when working and drops post results

    Taskbar wifi connection strength

    Hi,

To isolate the concern regarding the Wi-Fi strength icon, I would also suggest that we may need to update the network drivers of your computer. You may follow the steps provided earlier on this post. If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver.
    Here's how:

    • Open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall.
    • Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
Let us know how it goes.

WIFI connection keeps disconnecting while using

    Hello,

Windows 10 (64 bit, build 1903 and build 1809 before that) occasionally drops my router's WiFi. This is on a Thinkpad X1. I can recover in a couple of ways:

    1. Run the network troubleshooter which resets the adapter and thereby brings back the network.
    2. Manually disconnect (by temporarily selecting a different connection) and reconnect.

Those steps both kept the WiFi connection up for several hours to a day or so. This was a big problem earlier but doing a Network Reset seems to have fixed it -- no more dropped WiFi!

Now it has happened again! I note that it happened when I had inadvertently left my laptop unplugged. It had dropped to 46% battery which doesn't seem like it should be a problem.

No other wireless devices in my home have this problem.

Google turns up a bunch of "solutions" for this but all of them point me to settings that don't exist on my system!

    Does anyone have any advice?
