Windows 10: WiFi state is disconnected and hosted network status is ‘Not available’.

Discus and support WiFi state is disconnected and hosted network status is ‘Not available’. in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; I ran the command ‘netsh wlan show interface’, and saw that the interface named ‘WiFi’ is disconnected.     WiFi state is disconnected and hosted network status is ‘Not available’.


    I ran the command ‘netsh wlan show interface’, and saw that the interface named ‘WiFi’ is disconnected. I am not seeing a WiFi icon in the taskbar either and I have looked at taskbar settings which say the network icon is on and I cannot change it, but I there is no icon present. Also, there are no visible available networks to connect to, when all my other devices connect fine, the box is blank and airplane mode is off. I have restarted my network drivers multiple times and now I am at a loss, please help!

    Hosted Network WiFi

    Hi - Thanks for the help. I’ll describe each step of what I did to royally mess up my computer. My goal was to share my wifi...but now my wifi is gone!

    1. Set up and activated hosted network via Command Prompt

    2. Set settings to allow connection to be shared

    3. Attempted to connect with another device but never saw the network

    4. Decided that I didn’t actually care that much do I went to my wifi networks and clicked “disable” on the hosted network

    5. Now my wifi is gone. I can’t turn it on with the physical key, it no longer appears in my network connections, the switch is greyed out in the airplane mode settings. Gone gone gone.

    Can someone help me get it back??

    Same here!

    Micorsoft Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter is not present in "Manage devices" and then "Show hidden devices". It is rather present Micorsoft Wifi Direct Virtual Adapter, what is that? Are them
    correlate to each other?

    I tried everything it is advised/suggested/recommended on the Internet, but the answer from the Prompt or from other software (mHotspot, Connectify and so on) is always:

    "The hosted network couldn't be started.

    The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation."

    Windows 10 Home 64 bit

    HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC

    • If you have an identical laptop try comparing the wifi and security settings of the one that does not disconnect with the one that does. If you find any differences change the settings of the one that does not work to the one that does.
