Windows 10: Wifi status appears as a dashed line - cannot find networks (though my computer connects to...

I've lost the network icon on my taskbar and more importantly I'm unable to find any networks. My network status appears as a dashed line (see picture); troubleshooting results in the error message "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy setting". I've tried to re-enable the network icon but it appears grayed out when I try to enable/disable it. Have tried many fixes based on the above information but nothing has worked thus far. I'd like to note that this computer is still able to connect to the internet.

Intel Core m3-6Y30 CPU

Running Windows 10 Home ver. 1803

OS build 17134.285

Recently i lost all ways to turn on wifi in my windows 10. I can't even find the wifi icon in the task bar and also in notification bar . Also, In settings there is no wifi section. And in network status, a long dashed horizontal line is shown. I really
face an immense difficulty as i cannot access the home and office wifi. Now i need to carry the usb cable around inorder to usb tether the cellular 4g connection. Please help me. I did many research in this matter and couldn't find anything usefull yet. This
is how everything looks like.

Wifi network not appearing after recent Win 10 monthly patch


Someone else on another forum suggested I switch the wifi freq on my Android Nexus 5x. So I switched it from 5ghz to 2.4 and it worked! Problem solved. Now my Nexus hotspot is again appearing in my Win 10 list of available wifi networks. So problem was with Android and not Windows.
