Windows 10: Wifi won't turn on

No matter how hard I try or how many times I press the button, my wifi just will not turn on. The only problem with it is that it's off, but I can't turn it back on.

Update: tried rebooting, maybe that would work. It had to update, so it did. After it finished that there was an even WORSE bug!

Basically, every time it turns on after it updates, it opens to the log in screen like normal, but then after two seconds the screen freezes, mouse won't move, keys won't type. Another ten seconds and it restarts again, and it starts up in the blue updating screen again, then everything happens the same. I CANNOT LOG INTO MY COMPUTER.

All I wanted to do was play some sea of thieves ;-;

WiFi won't turn on

Hi Joel,

As you are facing issues with turning on the Wi-Fi on your device, do not worry we will help you with this issue.

Do let us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?
• Have you turned on Airplane mode on your computer?

Let us try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to check if the Airplane mode is turned on. If so turn it off and check.

• Press Windows key, click on Settings
  from the left pane.
• Click on Network & Internet.
• Under Airplane mode turn it off and check.

Step 2: I suggest you to check if
Network Adapter is enabled in Device Manager.

• Press Windows + X keys from the keyboard, click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand Network Adapter.
• Right click on adapter driver, click on Properties.
• Click on Driver tab and Enable the driver.

Step 3: Run Network Adapter troubleshooter

Network Adapter troubleshooter find and fix the problems with wireless and other Network Adapter.

• Click on Start; in the start search type
  Troubleshooter and hit Enter.
• In the left pane, click on View all.
• Click on Network Adapter Troubleshooter.
• Select Advance and click on
  Run as Administrator.
• Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

WiFi driver issue, Wont turn on


I'm trying to use the suggestions and my Toshiba wifi button still won't turn on.

 

Windows 10 wifi not turning on Acer Aspire laptop

In order to get the list of available wireless networks, you have to:

1. Switch on Connect to suggested open hotspots (see the screenshot in question);
   
2. Click on Wifi icon in the right corner. Now you have your networks back.
   

After that the parameter from Step 1 can be turned off, networks will be listed normally after restarting Wifi.

P.S. I feel rather stupid at the moment. I thought that open hotspots are passwordless hotspots and so are presumably not very safe. So of course I've turned that off during installation.
Really hard to see any logic in this case.
