  1. Wify keeps dropping when downloading large files

    Hi

recently I had an issue that I thought it was only me, but surprisingly it is a recurring issue for Windows 10 users.

Every time I was trying to download a large file through wi fy it was in Epic Games Launcher the wi fy Router would stop working.

After reading some similar questions here, I did not really solve the issue in the end, but I have some ideas and I would like to have this problem eventually solved.

I installed official drivers provided in the manufacture's page for my laptop. I have a Gaming Laptop from MSI

I ended up with a software in my computer called Killer Diagnostics, which can be found here: killernetworking.com

This software is supposed to help you to manage your wi fy and allow you to have a better experience.

I uninstalled this software and the problem is still not solved, as soon as I start a download of a large file through wi fy, my wi fy ROUTER crashes.

I don't know if it is possible that this software did changes to my computer that isn't automatically undone when I uninstall it. And I wonder if anyone had similar issues or have any idea of what to do. Right now the work around is to download such files using cable and then go back to wi fy.

    :)

    Hi Tampawned,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue
    is with your internet.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
    • Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter.
If the issue persists, I suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps.

Method 2: If this happens even when you are working on the computer, then this could be an issue with the WiFi drivers on the computer. You may try updating the WiFi drivers either from the computer
manufacturer or Qualcomm website. Please go to these websites and search for the latest Windows compatible drivers for your WiFi card model and then install them on the computer. You may try all the troubleshooting steps from the article given below:
    Wired
    and wireless network problems

If you cant find the drivers for Windows 10 then I suggest you to install the latest driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Now, to install in Compatibility Mode, follow these steps:

    a. Locate the executable file (.exe file) for the driver installation program.

    b. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.

    c. In the Package Name Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.

    d. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows 8 with which it is compatible with in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then click OK.

    e. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.

You may also refer to this article for more information:
    Why can't I connect to a network?

    (applies to Windows 10)

Hope the information helps. Please let us know if the issue persist and we will be happy to assist you further.

  3. Wifi keeps dropping when downloading

Not sure where I have to put this but it's annoying the hell out of me. Whenever I try to download a file form the internet or from P2P network my wifi connection just drops and won't reconnect again until I reboot my laptop.

I've tried multiple things but so far came up zilth.

    What I have tried

    • Updating WiFi driver
    • Disallow power management to shut down adaptor
    • Checked the bandwith connection from the internet. Fast enough and it isn't saturating the connection
    • winsock reset
    • tried booting in safe mode - > no result

I'm running out idea's.. Anyone else have an idea ?

Large / fast file transfers from the internet, usually maxing out the available bandwidth, results in other actions being delayed or denied. Easily repeatable. Will be switching to a different router as a test."
