Windows 10: Will a new product key overwrite a pre-installed one?

I had to reset my 6 month old laptop that was pre loaded with Windows 11 Home and now I’m getting Windows not activated errors.-I tried the activation troubleshooter and it gave an error.-Tried to get the product key through powershell/cmd and both gave an error.-I finally found a backup product key in the registry but when I enter it, it says it’s not genuine.-I contacted the laptop manufacturer, but they want me to mail in my laptop which isn’t an option right now as I’m taking classes.My next step was to try a clean install and purchase a new product key, but I was wanting to be sure that w

Product key from old computer on a new one, with a pre-installed windows

Is it possible to use the old product key of a windows 7 computer (pre-installed on the pc) on a new one with windows 10 already pre-installed? Windows 10 creates compatibility issues for my pc-games. I know you can use it for a computer you want to build
yourself, but I do not know if it is possible when there is already a windows software installed on the computer.

If it is possible, what is the best way to do this? Can I just enter the old product key on the new pc?

Windows 10 to Windows 7 Pre-Installed Product Key

Hello, I was wondering, so I have a Windows 10 computer that used to be Windows 7, and it even has a Windows 7 Product Key on it, but it is a key "pre-installed by the device manufacturer", so if I were to downgrade back to Windows 7 would it ask for a
new Product Key, and if so would the "pre-installed device manufacturer key" work?

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.
