Will doing a clean Windows 10 install fix UEFI firmware not supported?

Hi, so I actually have two problems and I’m thinking the only way to fix both of them may be to reinstall Windows 10, but i want to make sure before I go through with that.

Problem 1: A few days ago the power flashed while I was using my computer and when it came back on my keyboard was no longer working. I spent an entire day plus some trying every fix I could find on the internet with no luck. I have a USB keyboard, but it’s not the USB ports because I can use other things on them without any issue and it isn’t the keyboard because I tested it on another computer and it worked fine. I reboot my computer multiple times, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and updating the drivers multiple times. I tried running different types of troubleshoots to find the problem with no luck. I even tried running a full security check in case it was a virus and the power flash was just a coincidence. Nothing. As far as my windows is concerned it sees no problem, it sees the keyboard as working properly.

Problem 2: My windows has been out of date for a while now because of the “UEFI firmware is not supported” error and I haven’t really done anything to fix it because I didn’t know how. I know that now there’s a thing built into Windows that allows you to switch to gpt without data loss, but unfortunately for me my Windows 10 version is older than that update.

I’ve seen multiple places where someone said to try updating Windows 10 if your keyboard isn’t

working, but obviously I can’t do that because of the UEFI error. So... basically I was wondering if doing a clean Windows 10 install would fix both of these problems and also what the best way to do that is? Also, if anyone has any other possible solutions to this problem I’d be glad to hear them, although chances are I may have already tried them.

    Thank you.

    :)

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

    Windows 10 clean install issues

I have the well known to the webs 'Start Menu Not working / Slow opening apps from taskbar' like you in RS3 aka Fall Creators update,
Even after CLEAN windows install...and there is no permanent fix out there, until M$ fix it.
So i have clean install RS2 Iso and block the updates so RS3 dont install to my system.
Im waiting for RS4 to be released hopefully fixes all those issues...but i doubt, they only thing they do is adding more and more bloatware.
