Windows 10: Will I be able to recover my original windows license that came with my laptop if I change...

Hi! I use an Asus Vivobook pro 15 oled m3500qc with 512 GB SSD. My laptop came with an original copy of Windows 10 Home. I have upgraded to Windows 11. I want to replace my SSD with a 1 TB one. If I do that, I will definitely have to reinstall Windows. My question is, what will happen to my original copy of Windows? Is there a way to get it back, I mean the new installation to have the original license? TIA

Download the Media Creation tool for Windows 10.

After creating a boot-able media, follow the steps below:

• Boot the PC to the USB recovery drive.
• Select Troubleshoot > Recover from a drive.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to recover the PC.

Please note that this will remove all your personal files, any apps or drivers you install, and any changes you made to settings and will restore the PC to factory-like state.

I had an activated version of Windows 10 Pro on my laptop. But my needs changed and I switched to a Linux host on my laptop and I installed a virtual machine with a Windows on it. As Windows 10 Pro activation is based on your hardware, I am not able
to install it on the virtual machine using my original product key. What do I do to activate my license in Virtual Machine?

 

Installing English version of Windows 7 on a laptop that came with Japanese version

Hi guys,

I finally bought a small laptop and t came with the Japanese version of Windows 7 x64. It is an Asus UL20A. Now, since I have an English version of Windows 7 Home Premium (32bit) with me, can I install that and put the CD Key which came with laptop to activate? Or do I have to find a special OEM disk to do this?

There are few reasons why I wanna do this.
1. Although I managed to change the interface to English, it is not as good as the native English version. At some places, the fonts are too small and ugly.
2. I need to install 32bit Windows so that I can save a little bit more RAM.
3. I need to make the C drive smaller. However, I don't know how this will affect the recovery partition. Can I simply format the drive where Windows is currently installed in, and install Windows 7 in there? Will I be able to recover to the original state (if the need to do so arises) by using that partition (by pressing F9 when booting up)? Though I have the recovery disks with me, the laptop doesn't come with an optical drive. So they are useless. Recovery partition is important.
