Will I have to redo settings after Anniversary update?

Still not coming up on WU, but I am happy to wait. I have read that after update such settings as system restore and autoplay etc are changed. Will I have to go through all settings as I did when upgraded from 8.1 to 10? Not a big issue, just curious. Thanks

    :)

What have you backed up? I would just back up what's needed - as contacts and sms's. - And redo all settings my self after resetting it.

HD7 wireless sync does not work

    Hello,

I have a HTC HD7. After setting up the wireless sync, it worked once, but it had never worked again after that. I tried to redo the setting process for wireless sync, but that did not work. So could you please tell me what is wrong with it?

    Thanks

Hi, yes that's what I found.. (system restore, autoplay settings changed). I also found, having started the upgrade manually, I had to answer a number of the standard installation questions again. Don't know if that applies if you proceed via Windows Update.

Found issues with 4 programs so far, including Zoom player which no longer works. There could well be more.

Note that most people probably wouldn't be aware of autoplay settings 'cos it wasn't working fully in Win 10 without polling the DVD drive.

It's normal in Win 10 upgrades and in-place upgrade repair install (similar basic installation process) for system restore to be turned off.

I also lost the desktop context menu classic personalisation option as per tutorial, so had to redo that, and had to reapply colour to the inactive title bar (tutorial).

Thanks guys for replies. I guess it`s always worth checking settings after a major update/ upgrade. Also I read that Cortana is not so easily disabled after update. But really I don`t want/ need Cortana. I just ask the wife to google stuff on her Ipad, she is MY Cortana! lol. Thanks again.

Most settings are retained. I.e. if your Autoplay was disabled, it will remain disabled.

Some other things get reset though. The update re-enables Homegroup services as well as Connect Now! service (if one had them disabled). Some Privacy settings also get changed, since new apps get installed or some old ones reinstalled (like Get Office etc.)

Will I have to redo settings after Anniversary update?

The upgrade also changed my font sizes. I think it may have reset my custom color calibrations for my monitors. Plus, I have a program called Who's On My WiFi that now shows a new unknown machine on my lan with an address of 10.0.0.1, which is supposed to be a reserved private ip. I know it's not my main router or the wireless access point I've added on, as those are at their usual addresses in the 192.168.xxx.xxx range.

edit: After further investigation, it seems that the 10.0.0.1 ip address is the OpenVPN installed TAP adapter. Weird, but it never showed up as a separate machine in Who's On My WiFi before. The VPN isn't even in use right now!
