Hi...I'm S DURAIRAJ . I'm using ASUS VivoBook K15 2021 Core i3 11th Gen - Windows 10 Home while purchasing. After purchased I updated it to windows 11 Home single language - version 22H2.Recently I try to upgrade the Windows 11 Home single language edition to Windows 11 pro using a product key available to me in social media . After the Windows upgraded to windows 11 pro but, I lost my genuine original windows activation showing Error code: 0x80072EE7" Will I need to purchase a product key to activate windows. Or Required to install a older edition of

Activate windows 10 after re-installing (I have lost my product key)

I own a Lenovo T430 laptop. In 2017, I installed Windows 10 using my original Windows 7 product key. Unfortunately, I cannot find that product key anymore. I need to re-install windows 10. Will it be automatically activated after the installation, if I skip the step of asking the product key during the installation?

In my opinion, I believe that my laptop will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers and this will not be a problem. Is that true?

If not, please suggest me a solution or a workaround.

 

Windows won't activate a digital license but will with a product key?

If you plan on "transferring" a digital license from one computer to another using the activation troubleshooter and your Microsoft Account, then yes, start with the generic product key on the new computer. Actually, on a new install, you select the option for "I don't have a product key" and then after the install use the Activation Troubleshooter.

Otherwise, if you are using a unique product key, either purchased or embedded in the firmware of the computer by the factory - let Windows 10/11 activate for the first time from that product key. AFTER it is activated, change the product key to the generic. One advantage to doing this is that if the original product key was OEM, changing it to the generic retail product key will also change the digital license type to retail and make it transferrable to another computer.

The Next button only becomes active when a key is entered. There is little tiny print "Skip this step" that can be clicked, though. Also, having the Windows 7 key is not enough - Windows 10 will not activate based on a key that it could find. It will activate based upon the original operating system activation. Important difference. The old operating system actually has to be installed and activated, Windows 10 will not read just a key stored in BIOS, for example. Once it activates from an upgrade, then future installs will activate based upon the information stored on Microsoft activation servers.
