Windows 10: Will making my account local host give me some authority to combat the administrator's '

Hello, I am trying to find out if i make my account an local host if I will be able to do something on this labtop because my son doesn;t remember his password and he is the administrator and we can;t do ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

Unable to make user account as administrator account

I suggest you to follow the below steps on how to make your Local Account as Administrator Account.

1. Login into your Current Administrator Account.

2. Right click on Start button
and select Control Panel.

3. Select User Account.

4. Select the option Manage another Account.

5. Select the Local Account.

6. Now select the option Change Account Type
and select Administrator and click Change Account Type tab.

Steps To create new local administrator account.

  In the search box type Control Panel.

  Click on User Accounts.
  
• 
  Select Make changes to my account in Pc settings.
  
• 
  Next select family and other user
  present on the left side of the page.
  
• 
  Click on Add someone to this pc option available.
  
• 
  Now select Sign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended).
  
• 
  Next click on Local Account Tab and create a local account and click
  Finish Tab.
  

Once the local account is created, click on the local account and select
Change account type tab and select Administrator.

Your Local Administrator Account is created now. Sign out from your current account and sign in into your new Local Account.

Local account to administrator

Just to be straight with terminology.

You can set up your device with a local account or Microsoft account.

Within each of these options you can then either be an Administrator or a Standard user.

If you go Start, Settings, Account and click on Your Info is it listing you as a local account and just below that are you Standard or Administrator.

 

Administrator and local accounts

These are different categoties:

A local account exists only on the computer that created it, so it can only be used on that computer. The alternative to a local account is a
cloud account, which exists on the internet so it can be used by any computer that can connect to the internet. A Microsoft account is Microsoft's version of a cloud account.

An Administrator account (correct name: Administrators) has substantial authority on the computer so it can make configuration changes that affect the entire computer, like installing software. The alternative to an Administrators
account is a Standard account, which has reduced authority so it can only make changes to that specific account.
