Windows 10: Will Microsoft display adapter on Windows 10 work with older monitors?

I have a Dell 1907 monitor. I tried connecting directly to a desk top as second monitor. It did not work.I am wondering if the Microsoft Wireless display Adapter will work?

This might have caused due to display adapter driver compatibility issues. I suggest you to try installing the Display Adapter driver in compatibility mode and check if the issue persists. This is to check if this is caused due to any compatibility issues.

Refer to the following Windows 8.1 article to install the Display Adapter driver in compatibility mode. The steps apply to Windows 10 as well.

1. What is the make and model of the computer?
   
2. What is the model of the TV?
   

This issue can occur if there is pending firmware update or the issue with the drivers. I would suggest you to follow the below steps and let us know about the results:

Microsoft Display Adapter not getting connected to PC

Thank you for posting your response.

I would suggest that you follow the steps below and check if you can find the adapter in Device Manager.

1. Right click on the Start Menu and then click on Device Manager.

2. From the list of Hardware, find the Microsoft Display Adapter and check if you can find the device in question.

I would also suggest that you follow the troubleshooting steps provided in the first link and check if it helps.
