Windows 10: Will more CPU's be added to the supported list for Windows 11? I have a 2 core 2.70ghz CPU...

Trying to figure out why my fairly capable laptop was not eligible for the Windows 10 to 11 upgrade, doing the PC Health Check just enlightened and disappointed me. My laptop HP Elitebook 850 G4 has an Intel Core i7 7500U 2.70ghz processor, which easily meets the stated hardware requirements of 1ghz speed and a minimum of 2 cores, but I'm told it's somehow not on the list of supported CPU's. So despite my machine meeting all hardware requirements I can not upgrade to Windows 11 and will be left to test fate after October 2025. I'm not tech-savvy in the slightest and can't figure out why th

Windows 11 supported CPUs

My computer has an Intel Core 17-4500U cpu. Why isn't this supported for Windows 11 and can it be added to the list of supported CPUs? It meets all the specs and other Intel processors are supported.

 

Why doesn't my 2-core CPU support Windows 11?

It's said i need a 2-core CPU to run Windows 11. I have a 2-core CPU that also supports TPM 2.0, but Windows 11 is still not available to me.

I used the PC Health Check program, and it said that my laptop has all requirements, but only the CPU is not supported.

So, as you can see, my laptop meets all the requirements, except the first one. Also, i think there is a contradiction. The last requirement is met, while the first requirement isn't met. The first point says the CPU is not supported - the second last point says the CPU is supported. Why isn't the CPU supported, if it has TPM 2.0 and 2 cores?

 

Windows 11 supported list of CPU's (i7-3612QM)

The processor requirement is the most restrictive; supported processors include 8th-generation and newer Intel Core processors as well as AMD Ryzen 2000-series processors and newer. These are all chips that launched in late 2017 and early 2018. Older computers can't officially run Windows 11.
