Will my old C drive SSD and other HDD be safe if I install Windows 11 on a brand new SSD in...

I've been using a 250 GB ssd and a 3 TB hdd for a number of years now, and they're both quite full, but of data that I need, so I've decided to up my storage with a new 1 TB SSD and 8 TB HDD.Instead of image the original SSD to the new one, I've decided to do a fresh install as there's not enough space to upgrade. I'm scared though that despite selecting the new SSD for windows to install on that something will happen to the old SSD or HDD.Is this safe to do?

    :)

  2. Install of Win 10 from old HDD to new SSD

My PC has a WD 1 T HDD as the primary drive with Win 10 installed. There is also an 2nd older WD HDD for data storage purposes if ever needed - unlikely.

I recently bought a new 500 GB SSD drive. I would like to install my WIN 10 on the new SSD using it as the primary drive.

To install on the new SSD, would I unplug the WD 1 T HDD and install the new SSD drive on the MB and then install Win 10 on the SSD.

After the above, I assume I then reconnect The WD 1 T HDD. With the OS on the New SSD, will the apps and programs that are on the WD HDD operate or will I have to reinstall them on the new SSD As well how do I delete Win 10 from the HDD - do I simply delete the files or delete the partitions or just don’t bother. The WD HDD a was not even close to being full and was bought for faster access.

Any suggestions on how to get the new SSD to work properly and windows off the old WD HDD so it does not interfere with the new SSD would be appreciated.

Changing installation of windows from a HDD Drive (current unit C) to a SSD Drive (current unit E)

    Hi,

I recently bought a Lenovo P360 desktop computer. The computer comes with three drives:

    - HDD 4 Tb (unit C)

    - HDD 2 Tb (unit D)

    - SSD 1 Tb (unit E)

For some reason, in Lenovo they decided to install Windows 11 in the HDD drive of 4 Tb, and make such drive the unit C of my computer.

In order to improve the performance of the computer, I would like to reinstall Windows 11 in the SSD drive , while deleting the installation from the HDD 4 Tb drive.

Could you let me know which steps I need to follow in order to have Windows installed in the SSD?

(For info, I have already created a USB recovery from the Lenovo webpage with Windows 11)

    Many thanks in advance,

    Miquel

How to safely transfer files / software to a new storage (drive D - HDD) drive then delete from previous storage drive (drive C - SSD)

    Hi Everyone,

This may be an old question, but I could not find any accurate answers for this.

I saw some step-by-step guides saying how to move files / software from SSD to HDD but did not ever mention if it can save space on drive C. (drive C - SSD & drive D - HDD just for example)

    Step-by-step

Option #1 moving files using location through Microsoft. (Example - under properties on such software, click location then edit the new location pathway.

Option #2 using command Robocopy and Mklink

Option #3 using copy and paste.

If not mistaken, this only clone or create a copy to a new storage.

So, I am planning to move files / software to my new HDD so I can save space to my SSD.

Aside from uninstalling which can be quite tedious.

Is there a safe way and tested 100% working afterwards?

    Mucha appreciated your response.
