You will need to disable the onboard graphics in the bios setup. Should be an option in there to do so. Try and do that before installing new card.

  3. You should install drivers direct from nvidia. Don't trust Windows update. Others above say that the 8.1 drivers are working with 10041 so I would try that. *Smile

Thanks for your input Winuser, Gary, Swarfega, and Maltesepace.
It seems a bit contradictory, with Winuser saying W10 will find drivers, and the rest of you saying get them from Nvidia.
Also, would it not be sufficient to disable onboard graphics in Device Manager. Does it have to be the BIOS?

I found that the one from Update didnt show the icons in the systray which is why I prefer to get them from Nvidia.

You should disable the onboard display in Bios so Windows doesnt pick it up.

I'm not sure what icons are missing. When I did the clean install a icon for NVIDIA Settings was placed in the Show hidden icons box.

  7. Hi. I installed the card before I saw this, but it doesn't seem to have mattered.
I got the latest drivers from Nvidia, and also installed Evga Precision.
Two problems. A persistent flicker, every few milliseconds, with some slightly longer periods, and no sound at all.

I've no idea what to do about the flicker. I have my native resolution (2560x1440) and everything looks great.
I also looked at the refresh rate. This can be either 59, or 60 Mhz. I recall that previously this monitor was happier at 59, rather than 60, so I've left it at that. I tried both refresh rates and they don't seem to have any effect on the flicker.

Regarding the sound, this had been a problem, ever since I installed this mobo.
I used to take sound out of the middle bottom mini-audio jack on the mobo I/O. From there I put it into the auxilliary input of a big old stereo amp, through old floor standing speakers. Sounded great
More recently. I've been using a DVI to HDMI cable to the monitor, and taking audio from the monitor headphone output, and then into the back of the amp. This didn't seem as good, but was bearable.
    Now, I got nothing.

It occurs to me that now, I have a DVI coming out of the graphics card, it has an HDMI plug on the end, which goes into the monitor.
Could be down to connections. Maybe there's no sound going to the monitor now.
It's late, I'll think about it tomorrow. This flickering is unbearable :-(

Hurrah! Spoke to soon. Just as I was standing up to go to bed it occurred to me to reverse the DVI to HDMI cable. That seems to have cured all my problems. I'm listening to Music of Hair, by Andrew Bird at top volume. Amazing,
I was sure I'd already tried this permutation of connecting three devices before, and that it didn't work. So I now have a DVI out of the GPU, which become a male HDMI into the monitor, a mini jack from the monitor headphone socket carries an audio signal to the AV inputs (which are separate from all the others on the back of the amp?)
    I hate wires.
Night all. John Will Nvidia GTX 750 work with W10 build 10014 :)

I just use the DVI output with analog sound.

  10. That's what threw me. I don't seem to have analog sound. It's going to the monitor, so I have to output it to the amp from the monitor.
