Windows 10: Will the Movies & TV app on Windows 10/11 ever support HDR?

I really want to watch movies in HDR that I purchased through the Windows store, but it seems like the Movies & TV app doesn't support HDR. Are there plans to add it later down the line?

Windows 10 Movies & TV App: No Sound

Hi,

I suggest you to un-install and re-install Movies & TV App and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key.
• Type Windows Powershell.
• Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
• Type in the following command to un-install Movies & TV App.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneVideo* | remove-appxpackage

Note: The Movies & TV App can be reinstalled using the Store App or by following the link mentioned below. You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling the app.

Get $Movies & TV from the Microsoft Store

App Movies and TV (Film & TV); black bars flicker sporadically on playback in fullscreen

what I tried; both desktop and laptop within Windows Display Settings:

• switch screen scaling - between (nativ/100%; recommended; my current setting) -> no change; same problem
  
• switch screen refresh rate - (desktop 120/60/30Hz; laptop 60/30Hz) -> no change; same problem
  
• switch screen HDR Setting on/off - problem solved, when HDR is turned off
  

...however, this is not acceptable - I bought the movies from the Microsoft Store because of HDR support.

This problem is specific to the "Movies and Film App"; no such problem with the following constellations in Windows - no matter if the content is nativ HDR or not:

• VLC
  
• Browser Streaming; Youtube, Amazon Prime via Opera
  

No such problem with the inbuild smart TV apps !not Windows! -no matter if the content is nativ HDR or not:

• Rakuten
  
• Amazon Prime
  
• Sony Bravia Core
