Windows 10: Will this registry change help with high CPU usage?

I'm hoping coming back with a new, specific post on this item will get a response. No further responses to this particular question were forthcoming on my original post. I'm about to let someone remotely connect to my computer to go through it over this problem, so I'd like to have an answer to this before I take that plunge. If anyone knows if this will help, please respond.

Look for the Start entry and change its value from dword:00000003 to dword:00000004 (simply replace the 3 at the end of the value with 4).
Changing this value could have an impact on Cortana’s performance, but it appears to be closely connected to the high CPU usage in Windows 10. In case you’re not using Cortana at all, you’re on the good side. Otherwise, setting reminders won’t work.

I Have a Major Virus and I Can't Factory Reset

High CPU usage is not necessarily a symptom of a virus. A search for "windows 10 high cpu usage" produces a lot of results not virus related.

If you have run CCleaner in Registry mode then that is highly likely your current problem. We do not recommend using ANY registry cleaners EVER, this is the sort of problem they can generate.

I don't think Windows 10 has high CPU usage for all; however, it may be affect some (for reasons unknown). It seems to be slightly higher on my laptop than my desktop for some reason but they are both at reasonable levels. Here's my desktop when idle:

Simply put, no. Windows will start it, even when it is disabled, because it is an essential service.
Creating a script to terminate it time to time, might helps, but that is just a workaround, not a solution.

 

I'm sorry but I'm not following this answer at all. What "it" are you referring to when you say Windows will start it even when disabled.

 

See my screenshot of CPU usage. I just opened this and the only thing I have open is my browser.

 

Please click the CPU tab to place highest usage processes at the top in an ordered list and repost a screenshot.

Here's my random guess. You're using Chrome, and a process called 'System and Compressed Memory' is using a lot of CPU time. If so, this has been answered in one of the lengthy threads on System and Compressed Memory which you can find by using the white search box at the top.

 

That tweak sets TimeBroker service to Disabled, but it controls WinRT apps, which includes Windows GUI, so when you have it disabled and you open Settings, it will start regardless. If you have a problem with WinRT app, stopping that service will temporarily fix it, but that is it, it will occur again in no time. Better to fix Windows instead. *Nerd

Win 10 pre July - CPU usage was great
Win 10 - mid July Update around July 12-14 - High CPU Usage
Win 10 Anniversary - Great CPU and Ram usage a good amount better than any Win 10 in the last 12 months

All with the same usage, apps, programs, services running
