Windows 10: Win 10 1809 System Restore did not complete sucessfully always at 60%: error code (0x80070057)

1. A system Win10 1809 Pro image restore has been done successfully 10 days ago using the boot CD (all in BIOS Mode). It covers 3 partitions: Recovery C, D. On E (as C..E on one SSD 1 Tera disk) not included are the hot the USER DATA and should be never overwritten!!! The backup is on it's own USB disk with the various


2. Alter some stuff and did the same image backup again without any errors. Thinking all is OK!


3. NOW at some point the PC was suddenly no more boot able and diagnostic could not help ether, so thinking have a good backup what let me fishing into the dark and made me nuts O


4. Now did the same procedure as (1)... and all what I did


a) clear partitions (will do also delete the hot user data on E, as using the format checkbox on restore GUI)


b) created the partitions manually and enlarged them thinking the culprit


causes a not complete successful always at about 60% restore with error code (0x80070057)


5. Installed Win 10 1809 only for test purpose and this is not able to retrieve the USB image backup disk. See always on WindowsImageBackup sub folder the 3 xxxx.vhdx backup image files ...


The (6) question is:


1. how to fix this error?


2. how could I access those backup xxxx.vhdx files directly to restore to the related partitions.

It is possible that the service of System Restore did not run right away. This can be the reason why you're seeing an error log in the Event Viewer. If you can use your computer smoothly and if you can run System Restore without any issues, it means that
the error that you saw in the Event Viewer is already resolved.

If you're having an issue using System Restore, there may be an issue with the hard drive of your computer. This may also be the reason why you're encountering the error code 0x80070057 in Event Viewer. We suggest that you run the "check disk" command to
check the hard drive of your computer. To do this, follow these steps:

• Right-click the Windows logo (Start button).
• Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
• In the command window, type chkdsk /f, and then press
  Enter.
• Press the letter "Y" on your keyboard, and then press Enter.
• Restart your computer start the "check disk" process.
