Windows 10: Win 10 1903 Fails to install 89% - Solved (in my case)

For the past few days I have tried to install 1903 with the same results each time. I have an Acer M3970 Tower 6 years old but well maintained


All fails were at the 89% area with the fault codes 0xC1900101 - 0x4000D The installation failed on the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation (could not understand why it would fail with migrate data problems.


Used the update option; Fails

Update option again: Fail

Created both USB and DVD creation and changed BIOS Priorities: Fails

Created boot media on a different machine: Failed on both

Carried out untold numerous suggestions: Fail

Slowly and methodically attempted attempted all suggestions disabling various options. Removing Norton in toto. Updated any and all Driver Software (not that any was needed). Ran chkdsk from the Command Prompt.


Attempted clean install: Fails from downloads, USB and DVD options in BIOS. Ran restore and repair files.


I ran the Windows 10 Update Assistant (WINDOWS10Upgrade9252.exe) as the update was no longer visible from the update options. Downloaded 1903 update.


Somewhere I remember reading about removing any external devices ( but additionally 1 user wrote about removing the wireless card (in my case an ANATEL PCI-E WLAN Card). I had nothing to lose. Removed the card and was able to have a direct connection between my router and computer through cables.


Did NOT modify my Start Up in Task Manager. Did NOT remove Norton. Did NOT modify my My Services in msconfig.


Carried out my 1903 upgrade without any hitches that I have seem so far. I was so surprised.


However, upon reinstalling the PCI card the computer will not reboot. Removed the item again. Reboot no problem.


I do not know if this helps anyone else. My system is currently stable. Norton is working with no issues. I do not appear to have lost any data even though I had already backed it up.


My programs seem to be OK but I have not tested them all. I have not lost any speed from internet.

Did contact Microsoft on this issue had tech remote my PC and claimed to have fixed it,

when reboot tried again and still install fail ??

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

After installing windows 10 1903 Sage Report Designer fails to start

After installing windows 10 1903 Sage Report Designer fails to start. Yesterday there was no problem before the update.

Seems to be a rights issue:

DOESN'T WORK:

• logged in to Win 10 under my own account (with administrator rights)
• logged in to Win 10 under my own account and run Sage as an administrator

DOES WORK:

• logged in to Win 10 using the administrator account (that I had to activate)

Is this a known issue for 1903? Will it be fixed?
