  2. dvd missing in win 10

    Hello Eddie,

Thank you for keeping us posted on the status of the issue. I would like to assist you further from here.

Refer to the below steps for you to help ascertain the exact issue in this situation.

    Step 1

Open the Disk Management Console to find out if the drive has no drive letters assigned to it, as a result of which it is not detected. Follow the below steps.

    • Right click on the Windows Start Button.
    • Select Disk Management from the User Menu.
    • Check for the DVD drives.
    • Assign a drive letter for the DVD drive if it is not assigned any.
    Step 2

Check if the DVD drive is detected from the
Device Manager and check if there is a yellow triangle next to it. Follow the below steps.

    • Right click on the Windows Start Button.
    • Select Device Manager from the User Menu.
    Step 3

Check if the drive detected properly if you restart the computer ion Safe Mode.

    Safe Mode With Networking:

Follow the steps to boot to Safe mode with networking:

    • Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

    • In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

    • Click the ‘Boot’ tab.

    • Under ‘Boot Options’, select the ‘Safe Boot’ option.

    • Choose the type of safe mode by selecting one of the options below the Safe boot check box: Select ‘Network’.

    • Click OK and then restart your PC.
    Step 4

Access the BIOS of the computer and check if the DVD drive is detected. If it doesn't, then Windows will not be able to detect the same.

Note: Refer to the manufacturer's manual and check for further information on how to access BIOS settings.

As a troubleshooting step, I would suggest you to follow these steps to deploy the
    Windows in built troubleshooter:

    a) Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.

    b) Click on Troubleshooting
    tab.

    c) Click on view all option on the upper left corner.

    d) Select the Hardware and Device
    option from the list.

    e) Click Next to run the Hardware and Device
    Troubleshooter.

Additionally, also refer to the below link on
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs
    and check if it helps.

WIN 10 20h2 Problems Boot DVD

    Win 10 boots...

I can't answer to the speed of Win-8 booting. I tried the Win-8 preview and went back to Win-7 after a month. They say that Win-8.1 is a lot better than Win-8 was.
My Win-10 TP is working well ATM.
