Windows 10: Win 10 activation

I have a Dell laptop with genuine win 7 enterprise installed. Recently I bought a new SSD and installed a fresh win 10 home on it and now I can't activate windows. Is there any possibility to transfer the old activation key to the new win 10? Old HDD is currently not installed on a laptop.

Unable to Activate Win 8

I was about to suggest run CMD as Admin and then do a "slmgr -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" activation...does anyone know if that works with win8?
