Windows 10: win 10 and gtx 970 flickering, black screens, horizontal green lines..

i want to share with you my bad experience with win10 and the gtx 970(zotac) ...maybe this can help you



i bought my gtx970 used from the internet, well almost the whole pc is used but it works pretty well until i installed win 10 pro 64 bit and the new gpu.

my pc:
i7 3930k
mb: intel
12gb of ram in quad channel
ssd: intel 535 (win10 original)
hdd: wd 2tb (win7 cracked)
LG 4k tv with hdmi2.0 and 4:4:4 compatibility


b4 i bought the gtx 970 i was using a HD6870 for gaming and it did the job pretty well (win10) but limited to 1080p gaming.. so i bought the 970 and uninstalled the amd drivers then installed the lastest nvidia drivers and here start the nightmare lol


opened trackmania2 and got black screens, flickering, random horizontal lines (not the whole time) and when exiting the game i got artifacts in the win10 desktop lol white dots everywhere... the majority of the time i can play it with no problems but somethimes i get white dots in the win10 desktop. Yesterday i got green horizontal lines while playing *Sad


crysis3 just gave me white dots (not always but when i close the game i get white dots everywhere). And noticed something, when the fan goes to 100% it start to show artifacts (not real artifacts just white dots, they dont look like real artifacts)

i also overclocked it to 1450 with the stock voltaje and got 5fps more in bf3


after a week surfing on the internet and sad bcouse i wasnt enjoyning my new pc (i spent something like 1700usd in total)..




I started to research the problem by my self... found something:


Went to chroma 4:4:4 to 4:2:0 and problem solved, then went back to 4:4:4 and no problems at all. But then i started to get flickering and horizontal lines in cs:go so i decided to boot my pc from the HDD (win7).


Long story short: been playing all the games i have and no sing of any problem so...


i could say that win10 is just too premature to handle 4k content... or even recent gpu's.


i will stay away from win10 for a while... hope it helps to you!!

Nokia Lumia 930 screen flickering / fluttering / jumping / blinking issue

Is the flickering a certain color? Is it only happening when you move something on the screen or also when showing static images?



I'm having an issue with my screen sometimes turning all green and flickering. Mostly it goes away after 10-20 seconds but sometimes it keeps flickering green on horizontal lines for a while more.



It's like all the green subpixels light up in full force at once. It feels like a bad connection of the screen controller.

I was advised on this forum to return it under warrant, which I will do in the next days.

 

Screen goes black

Task Manager does not flicker, but the laptop screen did go blank as soon as I opened up the internet to respond to this message. When it is flickering it seems to be the entire screen, and as it flickers no picture is displayed. The flickering is just random
lines, generally horizontal with varying shades, and an occasional green tinge. Even though it is running in duplicate mode the external display is unaffected.

In regards to the troubleshooting link, I ran through all of it's steps for each task. I cannot think of any single change which caused this problem, it began about mid-june 2016 with an occasional blacking out of the screen after 10-15 minutes on the internet which
was fixed with a restart; but would eventually return, and gradually worsened to the point that it now goes blank as soon as internet explorer or edge is opened.

In addition:

once the screen has gone blank I can make it flash the lines by rotating the display.

The brightness controls still cause the blank display to become brighter and dimmer with the adjustments.

well how about not overclocking to see if it helps? guess you were/are using HDMI 2.0 cable. even tho the 1.4 should be 4k ready and able to pop out good image, digital graphical issues might aswell be due to a bad cable.

summa summarum, its not always win10s fault

 

I concur Win10 and a GTX 970 is Fine here ......

If you are Artifacting , then possibly the Card is dying (Warranty) or whoever owned it before you Put a custom Bios on it that it can't handle on Boost , perhaps try putting the Original bios for the Card back on it or try the MUMOD Bios like I am using for my GB G1 GTX970.

Another possibility is that like on mine the Original TIM under the Heat Sink/FANs had hardened and not doing it's job effectively , it took me about 35 -40 mins to pull my fans and clean off the old and replace it, and I noticed a Temp drop of about 5° after that.

GPUz is a greatly little App too for getting GFX Card details if you are not already using it.
