Windows 10: WIN 10 back up fails at 97% complete

My last complete back-up took place on June 16, 2018. Since June 2012, I have been backing-up my computer (running WIN XP and WIN 7 prior to WIN 10, which came loaded on a new HP computer purchased in January 2018) using an external WD 1TB hard drive encased in a Sabrent enclosure. Since June 16, every attempt at back-up has resulted in the program getting hung up at 97%. After more than 5 minutes of scrolling through an endless loop at 97%, my external drive senses that the program has been interrupted and shuts down. My PC has been at the MS Store in Scottsdale, AZ since August 8, 2018, while they attempt to find solution. In the process of trouble shooting, they did a clean install of WIN 10, but did not resolve the problem. As of today, 8/17, the technicians are still working on the PC. Has anyone experienced this problem and had a successful resolution?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Hey Dj Urko, I am trying to install the realtek driver and I get the error 0x0001. I have disabled secure boot and Driver signature. I have the latest win 10 build. What am I doing wrong? Can u post the complete list of steps that I have to take? I have an asus z170 with alc1150.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
