Windows 10: Win 10 Bluetooth is not working

Sorry if this is isn't the right sub; I'm at my wit's end and need help.



* 1. I have a Bluetooth mouse.

* 2. Mouse stopped working.

* 3. I assumed it was dead.

* 4. I turned the mouse off, and plugged it into the laptop (Dell Insprion 17 3000) via USB to recharge the mouse. The mouse indicated that it was recharging.

* 5. I left the laptop sit there for a couple of hours and went about with life.

* 6. I unplugged the mouse and turned it back on.

* 7. The mouse did not reconnect to the laptop.

* 8. I pushed the "Connect" button on the back of the mouse. Tried to move the mouse again, still no response. (BTW, the mouse still moves via the trackpad).

* 9. I opened Settings and went to Bluetooth & Other Devices

* 10. Bluetooth on/off slider indicated it was "ON"

* 11. I turned Bluetooth off

* 12. The on/off slider disappeared completely

* 13. At this point, I'll list the various avenues I've tried to fix the issue:

* 14. Updated OS updates

* 15. Ran Troubleshooter and it said the BLuetooth is not availbe on this device

* 16. Ran Device Manager and had to click on "Show Hidden Devices"

* 17. Right-Clicked each one and checked for updates.

* 18. Checked Services and ensured that Bluetooth Support Services was Running

* 19. Downloaded Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) from /u/Awkward___Turtle

Bluetooth in windows 10

My computer specs are as listed in the profile. I think all of you guys are correct. I don't have built-in Bluetooth in mobo.

I contacted skull candy headphones and thy have told me if I do not have built-in Bluetooth, I would need a dongle which supports at least a2dp. I do not know what the heck that means. I have a feeling I would need more than a cheap dongle.

Anyone suggest some a2dp adapters. I searched but don't know what a2dp is so couldn't make a decision

Edit: This is a dongle with old BT version I see now, but I'm sure you can find a Asus BT4.0 version.

@aasim1111 I have this one, it doesn't show that it supports A2DP in the specs but I think it'll work, otherwise send a mail to Asus and ask.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with device. Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
• Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Method 2: I suggest you to update the Bluetooth drivers from the manufacturer web site. If the issue persist uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

• Right-click the Start menu, and select Device Manager.
• Expand Bluetooth
• Right-click on Bluetooth Radio and select
  Update Driver Software…
• Select Search automatically for updated driver software

Note: You can also check your computer manufacturer’s support website for Bluetooth driver packages for your computer that are compatible with Windows 10.
