Win 10 Enterprise - 1511 Update still not available???

    Hi everyone,

I was looking forward to updating my win 10 enterprise edition to the new 1511 update, but so far I've been trying for several days, but nothing has shown as yet. I have tried some of the fixes mentioned in GHACKS ARTICLE, but I've had no luck at all. For your information, I've had windows installed well over the 31 day period that microsoft mentioned, so this also can't be the issue.

    Can anyone help please?

    :)

  2. how i can get build 1511

1511 means 11th month 2015= It came out in November. I am sure you can find 1511 on a non microsoft site but if you are not on enterprise as soon as windows update checks for updates 1607 will be downloaded. Microsoft is insisting all users stay on the
current build. They got fed up that users were not updating win 7, win 8, and so the made it mandatory in win 10.

Win 10 Enterprise 1511 to 1607 and Group Policy Settings

I have several workstations with Win 10 Enterprise 1511 and the settings governed by group policy are indicated by "Some settings are managed by your organization." in red. After setting up a new workstation with Win 10 Enterprise 1607, the Windows Update
setting, which is governed by group policy [Notify for download and Notify for install], no longer shows that indication. I thought I read that the group policy setting still applies and the indication is now missing. I'd appreciate any info about this change.

    Thanks Fdegrove,

If I downloaded the iso and installed it, then won't I lose all my stuff? I simply want to upgrade and not reinstall a fresh copy.

    Hi,

Make sure you have a full backup of your current system to be on the safe side.
Then burn the ISO filo onto a USB stick and run setup from within Windows. Opt for the "Upgrade" install and hopefully that will preserve all your programs and personal files.
At least that's how it worked on a W10 pro install I just updated yesterday.

    Cheers, *Wink

Win 10 Enterprise - 1511 Update still not available???

Why are you using enterprise? If you have an enterprise agreement, the ISO should be readily available to you.

    Hi,

OK, so a regular Enterprise version.
You could google for that, there's a site which hosts an iso file that you can download containing the 1511/10586 version.

No idea about activation but I think it should retain activation status if you do an upgrade install.
Anyway, it's worth a try if you take all necessary precautions.

    Best regards, *Wink

  15. Not legal by the way. It was licensed to that organization and they are not allowed to resell Enterprise licenses. Activation will likely time out to if it's KMS activated. You may want to run showkey, https://www.tenforums.com/software-ap...7-showkey.html and see if it has a Windows 8/8.1 OEM embedded key. If it does you can clean install Windows 10 (10586 build) and it will read and use it, and activate with it. Once that's done you'll have a fully legal digital entitlement for Windows 10 for that PC. All perfectly legal. If it has a Windows 7 COA sticker on it with a product code, that key can also be used to install and activate Windows 10.
