Windows 10: Win 10 explorer not searching right.

Hello, I recently purchased a new laptop for our company. The user likes to search for prints to check by typing the file number directly on the keypad. the correct file will then highlight, and he can open it. That part works, it is when he goes to check another file that it will not accept the typing for the next part. The other workstation's at the shop will do this, but not this laptop. I don't know which settings to check I looked under file "change folder and search options" I did not see any difference. I might not have explained this as well as I needed to but I can provide more info. Thank you for your help.

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

 

Win 10 File explorer search right click after file search not working

After installing Win 10 version 1703 File search has developed a problem.

After searching for a file with File Explorer the right click function is missing. Also, the ribbon button "Open file location" does not work and the Detail view "location" column is empty.

Right click works ok in straight File Explorer (not Search results).

I have tried sfc /scannow and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth with no effect.

Can anyone suggest a solution, or is this a known bug in version 1703 "to be fixed later"?

Thank you for the detailed response. To change the search result's view from content to list, we suggest following the steps below:

• Open the File Explorer and try to search for files.
• In the toolbar, open the View tab and click List
  to change the view.
• Once changed, close the File Explorer.
• Open the File Explorer again and try to search to see if the setting has been retained.
