Windows 10: Win 10 file sharing issues

Latest Win 10 file sharing between PCs on same LAN is a dissaster.

One has 50% chance after booting PCs that files can be shared.

Win 10 file sharing diagnostics and error codes are totally meaningless and useless for a non technical user.

The old Group function used to work reliably.

Nowadays one has to work around with a portable drive between PCs and waste a lot of time despite having a high speed LAN between PCs.

Recommend that MS fires current team working on Win 10 file sharing and appoint new team with more active brain cells to improve the file sharing and make the diagnostics more effective & user friendly.

Also make sure error codes are explained to the non technical user and give directions what to do to rectify an issue.

Windows 10 Sharing Issue

Hi Ennycloe,

There are several reasons why does other computers are unable to access your file from Windows 10. To make sure where this issue is coming from, we suggest that you run the built-in HomeGroup troubleshooter. Kindly follow the steps below:

• Type troubleshooting on the Windows search box.
• Click on View all which is located on the left pane.
• Choose Home group and then Shared Folders.
• Follow the on screen steps.

Let us know the results from the troubleshooter.

 

Win 10 Network file sharing

• Since when have you been experiencing this issue?
• When was the last time that your Vista desktop and Windows 10 laptop see or share files to your Windows 10 desktop?
• Were there any changes made on your devices prior to the issue?

Meanwhile, we suggest running the troubleshooter for shared folders. This will automatically find and fix issues with accessing files and folders on other computers.

To run this troubleshooter, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then select
Shared Folders.
