Windows 10: Win 10 freezes at boot, 2-3 secs

My PC freezes att boot 2-3 secs into it using disk or usb-disk. Yes even using av usb disk (checked that it works on another computer). I can get to the UEFI BIOS Utility, choose uefi or bios for the USB no matter what i choose the system freezes. What can I do?

It seems that, the issue is with any third party application, which is conflicting with the system files.

I suggest you to start you system in safe mode and if the issue persist. If in safe mode, issue didn’t persist then, perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

Step 1: To start your system in Safe mode follow the below steps:

• 
  Press and hold Shift key and restart your Computer.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshoot.
  
• 
  Select Advance Option.
  
• 
  Select Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Follow the on Screen instruction.
  

Step 2: Perform Clean boot.

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program.

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

As the issue still persists, I suggest you to perform full System scan through Windows Defender and try updating all the available update, through Windows Update in your system.

Follow the below steps:

Method 1: Perform full PC virus scan using Windows Defender.

Method 2: Install all the Updates available on the Windows, through Windows Updates.

Follow the below steps:

Boot Time with SSD and Win 10 is 90 sec.


I have an ASUS 6730 with Win 10 and I just installed an SSD as the boot drive. Boot time is very long 90 sec. I have the latest BIOS version. I tried disconnecting all external drives. I turned off the old internal drive in Devices just in case the BIOS was searching the old drive for some reason. I have not tried physically disconnecting the old drive.

I have disabled all the unnecessary start-up apps

None of this has helped. I thought with the SSD I'd get a boot time of< 30 sec. I looked at the boot log and there was a long list of files but I couldn't tell which of these, if any, might be delaying the boot-up.
