Windows 10: Win 10 Hibernate Button failed to function

Hi,I am using Dell Optiplex 7040 PC with latest Win 10 updateWhen go to Start > Power > Hibernate, the system is not hibernating but locked up and computer switch off for only 2 seconds and it start back again after that . I can only to user Power > shut down to power off the PC.Is there any reset I have to make at the power option to make it hibernate ?ThanksThanks

We would like to isolate this issue that you're having right now. Will you be able to provide the exact error message that you recieved?

We suggest that you try to enable hibernation on your device using the Command Prompt.

To make hibernation available, follow these steps:

• Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
• In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
• When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
• At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on, and then press Enter.
• Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.

Notebook requires pressing power button twice to properly boot, hibernation no longer works ...

well I do not know if you read thru what I explained, but I clearly mention the suggested steps did NOT help.

I also mention that BIOS driver being behind this is just a mere suspicion by me. So you also think it is the cause?

I had also mentioned before

• that even after Windows upgrade from Win 8.1 & subsequent clean installs, there used to be NO PROBLEM, with hibernation working together with Fast Boot & no need to use power button twice
• that Samsung stopped making notebooks & only provides support up to Win 8.1 and so that includes BIOS. Having said that, there was originally no problem, but may be some Win Update or Build is behind this.

There are some issues like this and the mentioned separate issue, of the Start Menu ceasing to function for no apparent reason that do not seem to have a solution in some cases for Windows 10.

Power Hibernate Option Stops Working Correctly after Win10 1809 Upgrade

Many thanks for taking the time to look into the problem.

To answer your questions:

• Is this happening all the time or is it intermittent? A: It has been happening all time ever the first boot-up since the Ver 1809 upgrade whenever the PC was turned hibernate either by Home key > power logo> Hibernate or by pressing
  the power button (which was set as hibernate. The hibernate function worked well up until last boot-up before the upgrade.
  
• What is the make and model of your computer? A:
  The PC is a Dell Inspiron laptop. OS is Win 10 Home V1809 64-bit Build 17763.1
  

Execution of your suggested solution protocol did not solve the problem.

Hopefully you can suggest other solutions for trying.
