Windows 10: Win 10 keep using my secondary 5800rpm HDD when ram is full

Hi,

so i noticed when my RAM is full windows used my second HDD 5800 rpm as page file.

I found how change the disk to use for page file in windows settings.

Set it on "no any swap file" for my 5800rpm hdd then click on "define"

and then set my secondary SSD as "size managed by system" so to use them for swap file.

reboot the PC and see the settings why applied. only my secondary SSD is using for swap files according to the settings.



But after that its still the 5800rpm HDD which is used when ram is full, making the pc really slow while i run on SSD.

So its like the setting didnt apply and Win10 keep using the 5800rpm HDD as page file for whatever reason.

When this happen i check task manager and i see "system.exe" using the HDD.

So no doubt its windows and it only happen when the RAM is full.

If anyone could help would be appreciated.

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

Secondary HDD not turning off

Hey guys,

I upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro yesterday and so far everything works great, the only problem is that my secondary HDD always stays on.

I have a 128GB SSD as my main drive and an 750GB HDD as my secondary drive for games, pictures and stuff. Since the latter runs at 7200rpm and is quite loud and my laptop is otherwise pretty much completely
silent (when I turn the fan on stealth mode) I had created a power profile for studying that turns off hard drives after 1 minute of not using them and with windows 7 that worked just fine.

Now though, my secondary HDD never turns off. I checked task manager and ressource monitor and found that my pagefile was on my secondary so I moved that to my SSD, but now it still doesn't turn off, even
when Task manager and ressource manager tell me nothing has accessed it for several minutes.

Do you guys have any other idea what might be causing this or how to fix this?

Help choosing a secondary HDD

I have a Samsung SSD 850 Pro 256GB SATA (love this thing) as a boot drive and a 1TB Toshiba HDD for storage and every thing else. I need a bigger secondary HDD. Is there an advantage to a hybrid drive like the Seagate FireCuda as a secondary drive? Any suggestions?
