Win. 10 Mail App. doesn't accept i. before e. & no apparent way to turn Auto- Caps. off.

I normally access Hotmail via the Mail App. from the Microsoft store and have two Hotmail accounts; these are both Internet based e-mails.
Automatic capitalization after a full stop period only occurs on one of the accounts however on both when i.e. is typed the “i.” changes to upper case and when the following "e." is typed the "I" usually alternates between upper and lower case and the screen locks until Backspace is used which converts the i./I.e. into "I.." and the cursor moves one space to the right! So these are presumably two different issues.

Neither issue occurs on either account when they are opened in the browser so it looks like the issue is with the App. and yet to reiterate the i.e. error is on both but the auto-capitalization after a full stop is on one only. I have been unable to find any settings in either mail or Windows 10 relating to this. I should add that I think the i.e. issue used to occur on “Wordpad” but no longer seems to.

I would appreciate any advice as to how to turn auto-capitalization off which may solve both problems or any other relevant information.

    :)

Windows 10 Mail app deleted all my e-mail accounts

The Windows Mail App (The e-mail client that comes with Windows 10) is where I had all my e-mail accounts setup so I just had one place to check them. All of the e-mail accounts that I had added to the client are now gone. When I open the app instead of seeing a list of my e-mail accounts I see the app as it was when I first started to use it.

My e-mail accounts should be listed in the left hand column under Accounts.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Win. 10 Mail App. doesn't accept i. before e. & no apparent way to turn Auto- Caps. off. :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
