win 10 media will create flash drive that does not boot

The new win 10 error 0x80070020-0xA001A when trying to make a iso dvd but lets you make a flash drive that does not boot but has a setup.exe that will download windows but does not offer repair like a iso used to.

This new windows does not make things easy when there auto repair does not work, 4.7 dvds no longer hold the new iso but it seems you cannot make a iso now using the new win 10

    Any ideas please?

    :)

    Win 10 Parallel Installation - Win 8.1 in C: Drive & Win 10 in D: Drive

I finally created the necessary video tutorials. Before you start, you are going to need:

    • Flash drive to create Windows 10 bootable media
    • Flash drive to create Windows 8.1 recovery media
    • An external drive, large enough to hold the Windows 8.1 system image. It is better to create the image on an external drive, even if you have 2 partitions (and theoretically you could create the system image on the second partition)
    And now the steps:

    • Create a system image of Windows 8.1. Follow my tutorial . If you have any questions, please write as comments to the video. The tutorial is going to show you how to create the image, create the bootable media and restore the image. But for this stage, you have to do only step 1 (create the system image)
and step 2 (create the recovery media). Step 3 (restore the image) will be used later.
    • Upgrade. This is essential. Without the upgrade, you won't be able to activate Windows 10.
    • Restore the Windows 8 system image. See my tutorial, from step 1, part 3 of the tutorial. Be careful, before booting from the Windows 8 recovery media to do the restore, connect the external HDD.
    • Use disk manager to reserve some free space in which Windows 10 will be installed and then install Windows 10. For this you have to boot Windows 8.1, as you normally do and then follow
. Again, for questions please write comments in the video comments section.
I hope it works. It did for me with the Tech Preview. Should also work with the RTM. We'll see.

Use MCT to create bootable Flash drive with previously downloaded ISO

Actually the MS way seems to be the other way round, first copy the files to the USB then use Bootsect...

TechNet | Step-By-Step: Prepare USB Media to Install Windows 10 (April 2015)

As it happens, last week I made a Win 8.1 install USB by copying the files from a DVD that itself had been burned from an ISO made by the Win 8 MCT. I didn't use the Bootsect command and that boots fine on my legacy bios systems.

    Apparently...
How to Use Bootsect /nt60 to Update the VBC to BOOTMGR

...so the fact that my USB booted without being updated suggests it's a redundant opperation.

I don't have a uefi system to test my USB on, perhaps @NavyLCDR could comment on that?

Tried to create system repair disk for windows 10 but getting an error "media speed incompatible".

    Hi,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your time.

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below in order to create a system repair disc.

    • Run the media creation tool.
    • Select Create installation media for another PC.
    • Choose the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
    • Follow the steps to create the installation media, and then select Finish when it’s done.
    • When you’re ready to perform a clean installation, turn on your PC, insert the DVD or USB flash drive you created, and then shut down your PC.

    • Restart your PC, and then press any key to boot from the DVD or USB flash drive.

To download the Windows 10 ISO refer the link below.

    Download Windows 10

    Hope this helps.
