Windows 10: Win 10 - My Seagate 8tb external hard drive is showing as a scsi drive in device manager.

My Seagate 8tb external hard drive is showing as a scsi drive in device manager. I followed all the steps in a similar question asked in 2015, but it still says scsi instead of USB. It also reports that my drive is only 5tb. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but I've been having problems with my drive going offline occasionally for months. It started getting worse a few weeks ago, so i decided to look into it. Chkdsk always fails after running for an hour or so with the message of an io error. I'm afraid to upgrade to windows 11 until i have this problem solved.

SCSI External Hard Drive removed by mistake

I upgraded to windows 10

my backup External Seagate hard drive was configure as drive G:

The G: drive was showing "This PC" even when the G: external hard drive was not connected so I I deleted the G: Drive path.

when I plugged the External Drive back into the computer it couldn't find the drive or files.

The "external hard drive" does show up in Device Manager but not under disk management

Under "device manager" under details is does show I deleted the device

SCSI\DISK&VEN_SEAGATE&PROD_BACKUP+_BK\000000 was delete 8/19/2015 8:20:51 PM

I have tried:

Restoring computer to an earlier date

updating the driver

all Seagate tools

Deleting the Driver

Partition recovery software doesn't see the drive.

Plugging into a windows 7 computer and it still doesn't see the external hard drive.

HFS4WIN.ext file

Do I have anyway to undelete the SCSI\DISK&VEN or create a new one?

If I find a MAC will the drive work

Please help

 

USB 3.0 Seagate SATA External Hard Drive Not Recognized Win. 10

I recently purchased a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 hard drive and a Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive flat docking station to connect via usb to my Dell XPS L702x laptop. Upon putting the hard drive in the external enclosure and connecting to my laptop via usb my computer is not recognizing this external hard drive in disk management. I can see it in device manager and it is listed as "Jmicron SCSI Disk Device". I can also see it in devices and printer listed as "Jmicron". However it is not recognized or listed in disk management and file explorer. I am a novice when it comes to hardware issues as I am more of a software guy but I have tried everything I can find on the net to no avail. ie uninstalling and installing the drivers, using seagate utilities (I cannot also see it in Seagates applications), disabling fast startup, windows devices and printers troubleshooting, etc. I suspect (maybe incorrectly) that this device is showing up as "Jmicron SCSI disk device" instead of a SATA drive but that is coming from someone who again does not know alot about the device/hardware side. I would like to make this external drive a full backup for my windows 10 laptop and any assistance that could be provided would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for any help you may be!

 

Seagate External Drive not showing in Windows Explorer - Windows 10

Hello,

After reading a few other related posts here, I'm hoping for a bit of additional help. My Windows 10 PC doesn't show my Seagate external hard drive in Windows Explorer, however the Seagate light turns on, I can feel the internal drive circulating, and my PC makes the sound of recognizing something being plugged into the USB port. It shows in Windows Settings under Other Devices as a Portable Drive connected to USB 3.0 and when I open Device Manager>Disk Drives, the Seagate drive is identified and under Properties it says the Seagate Portable SCSI Disk Device is working properly.

When I open Disk Management, it shows Disk 0, partition 1, Disk 0, partition 4, Disk 1, partition 1, Disk 1, partition 2, and Windows C:

All are showing healthy under Status.

I've tried the initial steps of plugging into the other USB port, but as soon as I do, the light on the external hard drive turns on, so I know the PC 'knows' the external drive is there....but I can't see it in Explorer to get access to its contents.

Any ideas you can offer would be appreciated!
