Windows 10: Win 10 network settings say that I am connected to the internet, but browsers and desktop...

As the title indicates, settings state that Network status is "you're connected to the internet", as confirmed by the fact that ethernet is shown as "connected". There is no wi-fi adaptor present on the PC

However, all browsers fail to connect, saying "No Internet", and desktop applications such as installed games all fail to work, again stating that no internet is available. Occasionally, but rarely, upon powering up, the problem is not there, and internet operations can be performed normally, though regularly, the connection disappears partway through an operation to go back to the stated problem even though network status still stated as connected.

The Intel motherboard has a built-in ethernet adaptor which works flawlessly under Windows 7, XP, and Ubuntu, but I have also tried using a USB to ethernet adaptor instead which yields the same issue.

Sometimes, forcing the PC to a hard reset will cure, if only temporarily, the problem, but it often returns. with Network status still saying "you're connected to the internet".

Asus laptop-Windows 10.

Laptop Win 10 built-in apps (Settings, Etc) say not connected to wifi network or internet.

But browser connects to home wifi network and internet, surfs with no problems.

Tried many fixes-->>reloaded win 10, reset PC, ran win 10 troubleshooters for net , internet connections and network adapters, checked all settings, etc, etc.

Same problem exits with ethernet connection.

Suggestions appreciated.

I re-registered apps per your suggestion.

Didn't fix problem.

The problem seems related to built-in system apps --I.E Settings, Network and Internet Settings, Windows Updates, List of available wifi networks, etc.

None of those apps recognize my connection to LAN network and internet connection.

However, the list of available wifi networks does show I'm connected to my home wifi connection, but says no internet connection.

I can't perform any Settings functions or anything which requires internet connection because the built-in app thinks it's not connected to internet.

But, my Firefox browser has full internet and LAN connection and abilities.

I appreciate any thing you can recommend.

Also note I keep getting a "notification" that my Microsoft account needs attention. It directs me to Shared Experiences" to fix the problem. I try to fix from there but it fails due to "No internet connection"

I have checked my Microsoft account via browser access and finf no highlighted problem in my account.

Network Settings says No Internet Connection, But...


I've tried unselecting the option but I didn't fix the issue - nor could I see why it would.

The following things connect to the internet fine:

• Microsoft Edge (new IE)
• Chrome
• Skype
• Steam's browser and Steam multiplayer games
• League of Legends launcher, patcher, PVP.net and game client
• Battle.net
• Pretty much everything

What doesn't work:

• Network Center (says I'm not connected)
• Windows Live Mail (logging in)
• Outlook (logging in)
• Notepad 8 (logging in)
• User Accounts (logging in)

The issue seems to affect any Microsoft product that tries to connect to Live.
