    Win 10 no active partition

I have done a clean install of Windows 10 having cleaned my hdd and set it as unallocated. After installation diskmgr shows the following partitions:-
    450MB Healthy (Recovery partition)
    100MB (EFI System partition)
465GB (C*Smile Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary partition)

None are shown as Active. Diskpart - detail partition doesn't show either partition as active. Is this normal?

  2. Dual Boot Elimination

    Hi,

I have a dual boot setup at this time, Partition #1 WIN 7 PRO, Partition #2 WIN 10 PRO "Activated" this was my TP beta partition, it was upgraded by MS. Is this WIN 10 PRO the same OS that I am being offered on partition #1 to replace WIN 7 PRO?

Now that the TP has ended I would like to do a WIN 10 PRO clean install and remove one of the Partitions to eliminate the Dual boot system. Should I do the upgrade to WIN 7 PRO then delete Partition #2 with the already activated WIN 10 PRO or could this
be a problem in the making ?

    Thank You for the Help...Jim

Yes,, because 100MB (EFI System partition) is the active partition

there is also another small partition that you do not see - 16MB MSReserved

    Yes.

Windows 8/8.1 OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) computers and the new motherboards have UEFI firmware, but the UEFI firmware include a Compatibility Support Module (CSM) that is set up to use the legacy version of BIOS.

The UEFI firmware supports two boot modes: UEFI Boot Mode and Legacy BIOS Boot Mode.

In UEFI Boot Mode, the UEFI firmware scan your computer's hard disks for existence of the EFI System partition, then run \efi\boot\bootx64.efi file in the EFI System partition.

UEFI Boot Mode do not use boot sectors on the hard drive (and the USB flash drive) and do not require active partition to be set.

Thanks all. I was a bit concerned because I had seen screen shots of diskmgr showing the system partition as active. That's not the case with mine. But if the partition is recognised as active during the boot process, that is all that matters. My pc boots and runs well so I will not try to mend it!
Thanks to all for your responses.
