    win 10 not updating

I have Windows 10 (and 10 only) on a spare computer. The last couple of weeks when I turn it on, a message pops up that says, "Install a new build of Windows Now" I then follow the instructions which takes me to "Check now". When I click on that it always says, "We found new updates and will install them for you soon." But that's as far as I can get and I haven't got the updates yet.

    :)

Settings Icon Appeared Then Disappeared on Desktop By Itself

Windows 10 Pro / A settings icon appeared on my desktop all by itself last night. When I clicked on it, it was a list like in previous versions of Windows. It even let me choose sized in upper right corner. This morning 8-16-2015 the settings icon on desktop
    is gone all by itself.

Maybe you must do a clean install of a newer build. 10049 is the latest official build as far as I know.

Are you using a wireless metered connection? If so, Windows won't update over a metered connection by default...
